CoGreen develops the NoHiRiNoise solution: a hempcrete-based noise barrier for highway and railway infrastructure, made from hemp shives, lime-based binder, and water. The composite has a density of approximately 300 kg/m³ and delivers noise reduction of 45-50 dB, with substantially lower embodied energy and longer service life than conventional noise barriers made of concrete, steel, aluminium, or wood. The hempcrete formulation contributes carbon sequestration through the hemp biomass, with quantification subject to ongoing life-cycle assessment work. CoGreen is at CRL 5, TRL 4, BRL 6: market interest is established (BRL high), the certification process is in progress with expected completion end 2026, and technical maturity is mid-stage.
