New Circular Economy Business Model for More Sustainable Urban Construction

Circuton

Concrete at the end of its service life ends up mostly in road foundations. Demolition concrete can be recycled directly on site with the Circuton mobile concrete recycling plant.

This unique installation separates the rubble into the coarse Circugrind, the finer Circuzand and the ultrafine Circument. These are high-quality, 100% circular raw materials that can be used immediately in new concrete. In this way, we can reuse the material at a high level and close the concrete chain. The social value is great: in the Netherlands alone, 13 million tons of concrete can be recycled, resulting in 161 kilotons of CO2 reduction. Double the environmental gain, in other words.

Together with a concrete crusher and a mobile mortar plant, the Circuton provides high-quality concrete on site for new constructions. Our customers thus fulfill their sustainability ambitions and benefit from lower costs because raw materials are reused.

Advantages of the Circuton

- High quality recycling of concrete
- Cost savings
- Can be used at any construction site
- Readily available high quality raw materials for
new concrete
- Saving of natural raw materials
- Considerable CO2 reduction

100% circular concrete

Circuton is an innovation of Strukton subsidiary GBN and TU Delft. We are both participants in a European research program in which this technique for 100% circular concrete was developed. Together we founded the company C2CA-Technology (Concrete to Cement and Aggregates) to further optimize it and apply it in practice.
