Green deal 154: Nova lignum
The aim of this Green Deal is to produce (on a large scale) building materials with a very long lifespan (> 40 years) and high quality properties, which for 90% of the volume consist of lignocellulose fibers of various origins, combined with a geopolymer. These fibers can come from sources such as conifers, roadside and natural grasses, flower stems, greenhouse vegetables and reel labels. This Green Deal is an example project for the biobased economy, which needs support in the field of networks and laws and regulations. Ligno cellulose is an important type of second-generation biomass. If production techniques are optimized, much more biomass will become available for biobased applications that do not compete with the food supply.
