Living Lab Circular Construction

Woonstichting JOOST, FAAM Architects, Heijmans Woningbouw and Waterschap De Dommel are setting up a living lab in the context of knowledge enhancement in the field of bio-based & circular building. In the project, a bio-based apartment complex (22 social housing units) will be realized, including an exhibition/research area for testing new materials and technologies under realistic conditions.

Objective of the living lab

The objective is to facilitate and strengthen an open innovation system, allowing (SME) companies, knowledge institutions and the government to research and test innovative ideas, assess costs and risks, and gain visibility and experience in the capacity in the field of:

- Development and application of renewable raw materials in the construction sector and biomass as feedstock
- Carbon circularity in products (design for recycling)
- Design new circular methods and systems for waste, local water treatment and sewerage in conjunction with municipality a water board
