New Circular Economy Business Model for More Sustainable Urban Construction

Shredded plastic from memorial candles

The crushed plastic of waste grave candles is by nature an inert waste, as the chlorine in PVC, which
is the predominant material of this waste, is firmly bound in a polymeric plastic structure. PVC is used.

The Crushed Plastic of Waste Grave Candles is used to replace virgin material in green concrete based construction products MAR-P2: Green concrete. As concrete is one of the most preferred construction material for civil infrastructure due to its versatility, strength and durability. However, concrete is not an environmentally friendly material as it requires significant quantities of natural aggregates in its production. Hence, there is an increasing demand to seek opportunities how to reduce the environmental impact. Such type of ecological form of concrete is known as Green Concrete.

Concrete replacement materials can be of many types. It is possible to replace the cement in
concrete with recyclable materials to reduce energy consumption. Another effective strategy to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions by concrete is replacing aggregates. Recently, many reusable and
recyclable materials are available for this purpose. Aggregates play a vital role in the properties of
concrete since they occupy about 75% of the concrete volume.
